So, the kids came down to neat, individualised stacks of paper today, detailing all their work for the week to catch up with the home learning set by their school. Considering the lack of work we've done so far, mostly due to a constant battle to keep them off the Switch, I decided to let them have a go at planning their own day to see if that motivated them more.
They each chose a list of tasks they wanted to do today and worked through, ticking them off as they went. This worked pretty well until #1 child insisted on climbing the walls (NOT metaphorically). Tomorrow, said child has promised undiluted committment to completing the tasks and ignoring distractions. We'll see.
On a lovely note, child #1 received a surprise subscription to the Aquila magazine today (thanks Grandad!). It looks amazing and I'm hopeful that will help us rediscover the fun in learning that the nearby computer games are threatening to quash.
Furthermore, AQUILA Children’s Magazine are offering a FREE online learning resource perfect for KS2 and KS3 children that's full of fun articles, activities, puzzles and experiments that families can enjoy and learn from together. Please follow and share this link: https://joom.ag/6tpC
